Former Justice Minister Jody Wilson Raybould has announced she will not be running in the next election.

In a letter to constituents in her Vancouver riding, Wilson Raybould says she has not made the decision to spend more time with her family or to focus on other challenges.

Rather, she’s noticed Parliament has “become more toxic and ineffective over the last six years.” She sees it as a “disgraceful triumph of harmful partisanship over substantive action.”

She wants to find different ways to help her community.

Wilson Raybould was elected in 2015 as a Liberal but resigned from cabinet in February 2019 during the SNC Lavalin scandal.

She was eventually booted from the caucus in April of that year.
