Organizers of cultural and sporting events can expect to receive provincial guidance on reopening this week, according to Toronto’s mayor.

John Tory says when Ontario enters Step 3 of the Roadmap to Reopening Plan, event planners will need to know important information related to capacity limits.

Mayor Tory explained on Monday morning, this will be necessary for those planning a music concert, for example.

“You have to know if you have a music venue how many tickets can you sell, because otherwise you can’t book the musician without knowing how many tickets you can sell and how much money you’ll take in,” Mayor Tory said, “Same with a theatre company, you’re not going to start rehearsing a new theatre production if you don’t know how many tickets in a theatre you can sell and so those guidelines are forthcoming from the province. They’re very important to these cultural organizations, up to and including things like TIFF which is much bigger.”

Step 3 reopening is currently set for Wednesday July 21st.
