Zoomers who grew up in the 1960s will remember Robert Quackenbush.
He’s the author and creator of “Animal Detective Stories,” who invented characters like Detective Mole, Sherlock Chick and Henry the Duck.
He began his career as an illustrator of children’s books and later began writing, creating a number of beloved animal characters.
Over 60 years Quackenbush worked on some 200 titles which became bed time reading staples.
For his work on Detective Mole, he received an Edgar Allan Poe Award for best juvenile mystery in 1982.
Robert Quckenbush has died of leukemia. He was 91.
