Zoomers of a certain vintage may find this hard to believe, but it’s been 50-years since the pride of Fort Macleod, Alberta released her classic album “Blue.”
The 77-year old Canadian music legend once told a critic that her music was not designed to grab instantly but rather wear for a lifetime and hold up like a fine cloth.
“Blue,” does that.
It was Joni Mitchell’s fourth studio album and marked her transition from simple folk music to the increasingly layered production heard on 1974’s “Court and Spark.”
It was released June 22, 1971 and was Mitchell’s first million seller.
