No less a figure than Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber says he’s determined to open the seven theatres he owns in London even if he gets arrested doing it.
His West End production of “Cinderella,” is getting ready to open for previews June 25th. That is four days after so-called “freedom day,” which the British Government has targeted as lockdown lift day. But, reports indicate the date may be pushed back due to concerns over the impact of Covid-19 variants.
The 73 year old theatre impresario tells the British media, “We are going to open, come hell or high water.”
British theatres are currently able to operate with reduced capacities and socially distanced audiences. But, Lord Lloyd Webber insists that productions like his large-scale musicals are impossible under those restrictions.
