COVID-19 CASES IN CANADA FALL TO LOWEST LEVELS THIS YEAR

The average number of new daily cases in the country is below 2,000 for the first time since early October, and the number hospitalized due to the coronavirus is the lowest its been since November.
The daily average of new cases over the last week is 1,798 — the lowest average since October 2, 2020.
The last time the average number across Canada was below 2,000 was October 12, 2020.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s reporting 469 new cases — its lowest daily count since September 26, when there were 435.
Of the new cases, 182 are in Toronto, 76 in Peel Region.
The province is also reporting 621 are hospitalized with COVID-19 — 481 are in ICUs and 305 on ventilators.
