After tragedy halted their tour last year, the Snowbirds are set to return to the skies.

The Snowbirds were in the midst of a cross country tour last year when public affairs officer Captain Jenn Casey was killed in a crash near Kamloops, B.C.

A year on from the tragedy, the Snowbirds are planning their first performances in Michigan and Quebec next month.

An investigation pointed to a bird strike that caused the crash. Pilot Captain Richard MacDougall was injured after ejecting from the jet.

Operation Inspiration was meant to raise the spirits of Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic.
