New York’s Metropolitan Opera has reached a tentative agreement on a four-year contract with its Chorus as the company prepares to resume performances in September.

If ratified, in a vote scheduled for May 24th, the deal will kick in August 1st

Still without deals are the unions for the Met’s orchestra and the stagehands.

Unions and their members complained when the pandemic caused the Met to stop paying employees on March 31st of last year.

At that time, the company said it was continuing to cover benefits but could not afford to pay unionized employees without the revenue from performances.
