40-years ago today, cancer silenced the voice and talent of legendary reggae singer Bob Marley.
Marley was just 36 when he died in Miami on May 11, 1981.
Marley was born into poverty in Jamaica, left home at 14 to pursue a musical career in Kingston and became a star after arriving in England in 1972 to tour with Johnny Nash.
Marley was diagnosed with melanoma in 1977 and died four years later.
