Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says finger-pointing won’t help Ontarians as the province grapples with the third wave. His comment is in response to an ad by the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party accusing the Prime Minister of failing to appropriately restrict travel into the province.

The political ad, released on Facebook warns that “mutant COVID variants” are flying into Canada from Britain, South Africa, Brazil and India and accuses Justin Trudeau of not closing borders when the pandemic started or when it got worse. The ads also appear on radio and TV this week.

“And some will choose to point fingers and lay blame and even engage in personal attacks, that’s not my approach and that’s not quite frankly what Ontarians need,” said Trudeau.

Trudeau says Ottawa is willing to work with Ontario on further limiting the number of people allowed to enter the province. but adds Doug Ford has yet to follow up on a request for tighter rules made last week.
