Starting Friday, mobile vaccine clinics will run in hotspot postal codes across the G-T-A with Solicitor General Sylvia Jones saying the aim is to target for those who cannot work from home.

“To help us quickly reach small to medium sized workplaces in areas where the need is greatest,” said Jones. “Beginning Friday an initial deployment of up to five mobile units will be launched in Toronto, York and Peel regions.”

In updating its vaccine rollout the Ford government reiterated that 65-percent of residents 18 and older will have received the first dose by the end of this month.

Currently, four-in-ten adults have.

Meanwhile, starting this week, Moderna will be administered in up to 60 pharmacies in hotspot postal codes across five public health units including Durham, York regions, Hamilton, Ottawa and Windsor-Essex.

The city of Toronto provided its vaccine update as well.

City run mass vaccination clinics are 99 percent booked for the remainder of this week meaning almost every appointment is booked and Mayor John Tory says supply remains an issue.

“And that includes working with the other governments and with other municipalities to find more ways in which we can address supply and other issues together,” added Tory.

On Wednesday, eligibility for vaccines at city clinics expands to include people 50 plus, high risk conditions a one group who can’t work from home.

The city will open 60,000 appointments from June 7-13 Thursday, April 6  for these groups to book.
