A film about the real-life story of a family of Syrian refugees who founded a chocolate company in Nova Scotia will make its world premiere at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival next month.
It’s called “Peace by Chocolate” and tells the story of the relationship between the Hadhad family and a local man named Frank Gallant who helped them adjust to life in Canada.
Filmmaker Jonathan Keijser is originally from Halifax, but has been based in Los Angeles for almost 10 years. He says he “couldn’t be happier” that his film will debut at a major international film festival like Tribeca.
The festival opens June 9th.
