About 10,000 COVID 19 vaccine appointments have been cancelled at two Scarborough clinics because of a lack of supply.

The appointments were scheduled to take place between Wednesday April 14th and Monday April 19th at Centennial College and Centenary Hospital.

An email from Scarborough Health Network says the goal is to reopen the clinics as soon as more supply is received.

It also says notices have been sent out those affected and the individuals would be assisted in making a new appointment at the earliest available opportunity.

The cancelled appointments were mostly for those 50 and over living in COVID hot spots.

Mayor John Tory explained on Wednesday morning there is a supply issue, but luckily, it’s not affecting the City of Toronto clinics.

“We basically set the number of appointments that we offer to people. We put 800,000 doses into people, let’s focus a bit on some of the good news and we have today 35 different clinics,” Tory told CP24.

The University Health Network has also paused taking new appointments because of a lack of supply.

But UHN CEO Kevin Smith says there has been strong uptake, with more than 21,000 people registered to get a COVID shot at UHN when supply is available.

The University Health Network began taking registrations for COVID vaccines on Monday.
