As Ontario records the second highest daily COVID-19 count ever, Premier Doug Ford seemed to suggest we’re in good shape.
“Things are looking really, really, positive out there but we have to keep going and vaccines are coming in everyone’s on a roll,” remarked Premier Ford as he received his first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine at an Etobicoke pharmacy. “We’re getting into high priority neighbourhoods and we’re also going into a lot of large employers right across the hot areas.”
There are 4,227 new cases in Ontario, the highest daily total since January 8th but officials note that 450 cases came from a data backlog. There are also 18 additional deaths from the virus.
The breakdown: 1,218 in Toronto, 762 in Peel Region, 532 in York and 247 in Durham. There are 552 COVID patient in a hospital intensive care unit, that’s 27 more than Thursday.
