The man behind the 1972 Watergate break-in, which cost Richard Nixon his presidency, has died.
G. Gordon Liddy was a former F-B-I agent and U-S Army veteran who was convicted of conspiracy, burglary and illegal wiretapping for his role in the Watergate affair.
The bungled break-in led to the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon.
Liddy spent four years and four months in prison, including more than 100 days in solitary confinement.
Years later he said unrepentantly, “I would do it again for my president.
