Health Minister responds to Ontario’s long-term care residents who are pleading to be allowed outside after being isolated for better part of a year.

Speaking at a news conference with Premier Doug Ford, Christine Elliott said seniors are still allowed access to essential caregivers.

“As for those essential caregivers, they are in the list to receive the vaccine quickly, we want to make sure that they can be there for the comfort of their family members and to provide a lot of the services they provide to them as well,” said Elliott.

When asked about this, Doug Ford said the government must remain ‘super cautious.’

One lawyer says the confinement violates their charter rights and is illegal.
