Cyclists are coming back out in full force due to the nicer weather in Toronto.

After last year’s Active TO program proved a resounding success for those on bikes, rollerblades or on foot, advocates are pushing to keep the part of the program that drew the most traffic.

The section of Lakeshore west that was closed last year is not slated to be part of the program as a construction project nearby is already limiting space open to drivers.

A Cycle Toronto petition pushing city hall to reconsider their plans has already garnered thousands of signatures.

Last year, thousands got out on weekends during Active TO on sections of Lakeshore west and east as well as the Bayview extension.
