The military commander in charge of the country’s vaccine rollout says there will be enough doses to give a first shot before Canada Day to every adult who wants one.

Major General Dany Fortin says that’s if there are no more production delays and if provinces follow the advice to delay second doses up to four-months.

Officially the Trudeau government says Canadians will be fully immunized by the end of September.

While four vaccines have been approved, deliveries of two remain unclear although Fortin hopes to known within ”a few weeks” when the first doses of Johnson & Johnson and the 20-million doses directly from AstraZeneca will begin arriving.

In the meantime, there are more than enough doses from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca doses coming the Serum Institute of India to pass the one-dose-per-Canadian target by the end of June.

That’s when 36.5-million doses are confirmed to arrive, not including any of the 20-million from AstraZeneca or 10-million from Johnson & Johnson.

There are about 31-million Canadians over the age of 16.

No vaccines are approved for anyone younger than that.
