If you are 80-plus living in the City of Toronto, you may register as of Friday March 12th for a COVID-19 vaccine at one of three mass immunization clinics opening on Wednesday March 17th.

Mayor John Tory explained on Friday morning the online registration system has been tested and is ready to go.

“It’s going to happen this morning,” Tory told CP24, “There will be a notification put out by social media and in order to avoid an undue loading happening at one particular moment, we’re not announcing a couple of hours ahead exactly what time it’s going to happen and people can register at toronto.ca/covid-19.”

The first three clinics are in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Scarborough Towne Centre in the east, and the Toronto Congress Centre in the west.

You are asked to stay off the City of Toronto vaccine registration site, unless you are 80 and over or a candidate in another priority group, or if you are registering on behalf of someone 80 plus or a priority group candidate.

Here are the priority groups qualifying for this first round of registration:

People who are 80 years of age and older (born in 1941 or before)
Health care workers in Highest Priority and Very High Priority risk groups
Indigenous Adults (16 years of age or older)
Adults receiving chronic home care

Meantime, the pilot project offering the Astra Zeneca vaccine to those 60-64 officially gets underway Friday in select pharmacies in Toronto, Kingston and Windsor, and Saturday in select doctors offices including in Toronto, Peel and Hamilton.

Some pharmacies, including the Shoppers at Danforth and Coxwell, owned by ZoomerMedia friend and pharmacist John Papastergiou, have already exhausted their initial supply of vaccine.
