The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences plans to give its 2021 Humanitarian Award to the Kingston band “Tragically Hip.”

The 15 time Juno award winning band and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees will receive the honour during the 50th annual JUNO awards May 15th.

The band not only provided the sound track to Canadian lives over the past 30-years, it’s also helped to raise and donate millions of dollars for various social and environmental causes.

Most recently, the surviving members of the band donated over 50-thousand dollars to the music industry charity, “Unison Benevolent Fund,” raised through the sale of their “Courage Masks.”

The Humanitarian Award recognizes outstanding Canadian artists or industry leaders whose contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada and beyond.
