Ontario residents 80 and older will be contacted about vaccination appointments in the coming weeks.

“We don’t think we can get at it the first week, or ten days of March, but by the middle of March, we want to be able to start vaccinating those 80 years and older and we will be reaching out to them in the next two weeks to tell them when their opportunity is coming available, where they can book their appointments either online on on the phone,” said Rick Hillier, Vaccine Task Force Chair.

Hillier says some public health units may move ahead sooner once they complete vaccinations for highest-priority individuals, including long-term care residents. The over 80 group is being prioritized along with seniors in congregate care and all Indigenous adults as vaccine supply increases.

The province is ramping up vaccine capacity in preparation for Phase two. Ontario has administered over 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
