An influential Argentinean classical guitarist and composer, who added a vast repertoire to his instrument and packed concert halls around the world, has died.
Jorge Morel’s daughter attributed the death to an apparent cardiac arrest.
In addition to converting piano sonatas to guitar, Morel’s music reflected his roots, with Latin melodies, harmonies and rhythms, as well as jazz in his adopted hometown of New York City.
Jorge Morel was 89.
