Jazz pianist Chick Corea has died of a rare form of cancer that was only recently discovered.
Corea got his start releasing solo albums and being a sideman before joining Miles Davis’ group in 1968. He put out dozens of albums, including “Plays,” which came out last year.
Corea left a message for his fans, saying he hopes anyone who is considering playing, writing or performing, should do so. He said it’s not only because the world needs more artists, but because it’s also just a lot of fun.
According to his website, Chick Corea died Tuesday at the age of 79.
