Former fashion mogul Peter Nygard’s been denied bail by a Winnipeg judge and now could be extradited to the U.S. to face multiple sex assault charges.
Justice Shawn Greenberg says she was not satisfied that the bail plan Nygard’s lawyers sought would ensure the 79-year-old would not contact witnesses or have others do so for him.
He’s been in custody since his arrest December 14.
Nygard’s accused of sexually assaulting dozens of girls and women over a 25-year period, facing possible extradition on those allegations.
American authorities now have until February 12 to formally request his extradition.
Once that’s received, the federal department of justice will have 30-days to decide whether to proceed.
