Former Chief of the Defence Staff, General Jonathan Vance will be investigated after a report of inappropriate behaviour involving female subordinates.
Vance allegedly had an ongoing relationship with a woman he significantly outranked.
He’s also accused of having made a sexual comment to a second, much younger soldier in 2012; three years before he was appointed top military commander.
During his five years at the helm, Vance was the creator of ”Operation Honour,” the effort to stamp out sexual misconduct in the ranks.
Admiral Art McDonald, who replaced Vance only two weeks ago, said in an internal statement to personnel trust and support of commanders must be sacrosanct, but also earned.
Under the military justice system, former members can be prosecuted for infractions that took place while in uniform.
