Country singer Dolly Parton revealed she’s declined two offers to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the past 4 years by former President Donald Trump.
But the 75 year old points out the decision to turn down the honour was NOT motivated by politics.
“I couldn’t accept the first time because my husband was ill, then they asked me again about it and wouldn’t travel because of the COVID so now I feel if I take it, I’ll be doing politics so I’m not sure,” Parton told The Today Show. “I don’t work for those awards, it’d be nice but I’m not sure that I even deserve it but that’s a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it.”
Former President Obama said it was a big mistake for him not to give Dolly Parton the award when he occupied the White House.
The Biden administration has already approached her about the award.
