He was the long-time bass player for the Dave Brubeck quartet who played on the classic “Take Five.”
Eugene Wright toured the world and recorded some 30 albums, including the landmark “Time Out. He was with the quartet until 1967, when Brubeck disbanded it to focus on composing. The group reunited occasionally over the years and Wright was the last surviving member.
Wright died in an assisted living facility in Los Angeles. He was 97.
