Zoomer Radio celebrates its 20th anniversary  Friday, January 8th.

Zoomer Media Founder Moses Znaimer rebranded the once Oakville-based station in 2008, building on his philosophy for the 45+ demographic and creating a station like no other on the AM or FM dial. A media pioneer, Moses was the first in Canada to introduce 24 hours of continuous programming first with City TV in the 1970’s. He’s built on that trend, copied around the world, to create Zoomer Media which includes AM 740.

“This is radio like no other on the planet, I’m proud of it,” Moses tells Vintage Favourites host Gene Stevens.

“Znaimer and Boomer came to me as Zoomer.”

And Moses has been serving and advocating for the 45+ demographic ever since.

“The notion that you somehow cease being interesting once you hit 50, seemed to me to be so out of whack with reality.”

Zoomer is music, familiar hosts, news and information, wellness programming, comedy, theatre, and more and its available on the AM and FM dial.

Moses points to the genius of Leonard Cohen and a particular song You Got Me Singing by the late Canadian legend that speaks to this moment amid a global pandemic.

“You’ve got me singing even though the news is bad, I can’t think of a song more appropriate for this moment.”

And for Zoomer Radio, the future looks bright.

“I think that people are rediscovering the intimacy and the instantaneity of radio and the comfort of having of it there particularly when times are tough.”

Zoomer Radio is at AM 740 and 96.7 FM and online where you can live stream and listen.
