One of Canada’s prominent independent folk labels has been acquired by the music company that represents Canadian music legend Gordon Lightfoot.
Waterdown, Ontario based Linus Entertainment, which also represents Fred Penner, says it has reached a deal to acquire Borealis Records. The value of the deal was not announced.
The transaction will give Linus ownership of an extensive catalogue of music from an array of homegrown acts, including late Canadian folk favourites Ron Hynes and Stan Rogers.
Borealis now joins Linus’ other Canadian labels, which include True North Records, Solid Gold Records and the Children’s Group.
