Believe it or not, it’s been 13 years since we lost Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson.
The Montreal-born Grammy winner died on this day in 2007 at his home in Mississauga.
Peterson is up there with the most accomplished pianists ever to tinkle the ivories.
Over his 50-year career, he played all over the world and collected eight Grammy’s including a lifetime achievement award in 1997. He also received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime achievement and was a Companion of the Order of Canada.
Oscar Peterson died of kidney failure at the age of 82.
