As the province reports more than 2,000 new cases for a second straight day, Andrea Horwath has a plan she believes would ensure the holidays don’t turn schools and workplaces into COVID hotspots come the new year.
Pointing out there was a jump in cases after Thanksgiving, the NDP leader says ”we’d be foolish to assume that can’t happen again”’ after Christmas and New Year’s.

The four-point plan calls for workplace testing; starting with large manufacturing facilities, expanding testing in schools province-wide, paid sick days for every worker and guaranteed paid family-car days.
”The vaccine is a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. We’re all so relieved that the end is in sight,” adds Horwath.
”But if Doug Ford keeps refusing to invest in stopping the spread and keeping people afloat in the meantime, the vaccine simply will not come soon enough to save us all.”
