One of Ontario’s top public health officials is facing criticism over remarks she made into a live microphone minutes before a COVID briefing at Queen’s Park.
Dr. Barbara in conversation with Dr. David Williams, can be heard saying “I read whatever is written down for me.”
In a statement, Dr. Yaffe admits to speaking freely during the briefings and was just referencing the fact that her communications team provide her with researched and vetted remarks.
But Opposition Leader Andrea Horwath says those comments raise more questions as to who is calling the shots on public health measures and that the advice rings hollow.
Meantime, Horwath is calling on the Ford government to create a post-holiday strategy that includes workplace and school testing.
