Universal Music has announced it has purchased Bob Dylan’s songwriting catalog.
The deal covers Dylan’s entire career and, although the price wasn’t disclosed, it’s estimated at more than $300 million.
Universal’s CEO says the art of songwriting is the fundamental key to all great music and it’s no secret that Dylan is one of the very greatest practitioners of that art.
The 79 year old’s career spans 58-years, more than 600 songs and a Nobel Prize for Literature.
A spokesman said Dylan had no comment.
