Ontario’s three largest COVID hot spots are staying right where they are in the province’s colour-coded, tiered response framework, meaning York Region will not join Toronto and Peel in GREY-lockdown.

Ontario’s reporting a slight drop in new cases – 1,780.

Toronto leads with 633, followed by Peel Region with 433, then York with 152 – the region’s lowest case count since November 28.

Durham Region has 94 more cases.

Halton Region has 51 new ones.

York will remain in the RED-control zone along with Durham and Halton Regions.

Meanwhile, the province is tightening restrictions on three more regions.

As of Monday, Middlesex-London and Thunder Bay will be in the ORANGE-restrict tier, while Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge moves to YELLOW-protect.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says in a statement, ”over the last seven days we have seen the trends in key public health indicators continue to go in the wrong direction in these three regions.”
