Details of Ontario’s vaccination task force will be announced Friday. Health Minister Christine Elliott says it will represent a cross section of individuals. To date, the province has only revealed that General Rick Hillier will lead that team.
“So we have medical experts, IT experts, we have people that are involved with communications dealing with logistics in a military manner in addition to general Hillier and there’s also a bioethicist who will help make decisions about who will receive the vaccination after we get through dealing with people in long term care homes and our front line health care staff,” said Minister Elliott.
Premier Doug Ford says the lack of details from Ottawa makes the Ontario vaccination roll out much more difficult.
But he was grilled on why he’s offered few details of the province’s plan and why it’s taken so long to reveal members of the vaccine task force.
“Have we delayed anything, absolutely not,” said Ford. “Let’s be very clear, Minister of Health, Solicitor General and their teams have been working on this for months,” said Ford.
The province also revealed that the health table is working on reducing isolation times from 14 to 10 days as the Centre For Disease Control has recommended in the United States.
