Calling it a project of ‘national significance’ Ontario is moving forward with the three stop Scarborough subway Extension.
Premier Doug Ford is calling on the federal government to put up 40 percent of the $28.5 billion dollar cost.
“This is a critical step forward to the Scarborough subway, there is no going back now and during construction, this project will support 3,000 full time jobs,” Ford told a campaign style news conference in Scarborough.
“After waiting over 30 years for a subway, our government is taking another critical step forward to build the improved, three-stop Scarborough Subway Extension for the people of Scarborough,” said Ford Premier Ford.
Ford says a request for proposals to do the tunneling work will be issued in the coming days.
