Premier Doug Ford is blasting Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission for giving big bonuses to its executives at a time when 15,000 casino workers are out of work and an expected revenue loss of $200 million during the pandemic.
“These big wigs, that fat cats I call them, all making a fortune at $700 and some odd thousand, and by the way we’re going to get a bonus,” says Ford.
“For all these big smart guys, they aren’t too friggin’ smart.”
The organization is arms-length from the government, and the Premier says he can’t block the payments, and that lawsuits could result if the bonuses are not paid out.
Ford says the Finance Ministry is looking into the situation.
Meantime, the province also announced that starting tomorrow, up to 50 people can work out inside fitness centres and gyms across the province.
