Much of Ontario will be allowed to enter stage two of the economic recovery this Friday, including hair and beauty salons, restaurant patios, malls, outdoor pools, beaches, camping and more. But those living in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Region remain in stage 1. However, there are no travel restrictions on the people stuck in stage one who want to drive to stage 2 areas to shop, camp or get hair cut. The Premier says he trusts Ontarians to follow protocol. “When it comes to hair cuts, I’m hanging in here, right to the last minute until we change over to stage two in Toronto and GTA,” said Ford. Also beginning  Friday, social gathering rules are being relaxed regardless of where you live to groups of no more than ten. And Places of worship can re-open province-wide, with 30 per cent occupancy. Weddings and funerals are allowed in stage two areas but limited to ten people. The Ford government will have a new re-opening announcement every Monday, with the re-openings taking effect on the following Friday.

The Premier also announcing a ban on commercial evictions. Doug Ford says only 7,000 landlords have taken the federal and provincial governments up on the rent abatement offer. So after threatening to do so, he’s announced a ban on commercial evictions. “You have to be fair and help out everyone,” said Ford. “I’m here for the little guy and that’s why I’ve ordered legislation to ban commercial evictions for those who qualify for the commercial rent relief program,” added Ford. The ban would take effect on OR after June 3rd and last until August.
