Meantime, 1,600 reserved tickets in advance to see the Sistine Chapel on the first day the Vatican Museums opened to the public after a three-month shutdown. Museum employees took the temperatures of visitors at the entrance, and everyone was required to wear masks throughout their visit. Director Barbara Jatta says it was a day of “great joy” and a return to a semblance of normalcy.

And in Paris, many flocked to Notre-Dame square with the partial lifting of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.French renovation teams hope to complete restoration work on the Cathedral in time for the fifth anniversary of the fire although the man in charge of the mammoth rebuilding program says the pandemic delayed the work.
