A member of The Tragically Hip says Canada needs to preserve and protect live music spaces. Hip Bassist Gord Sinclair is hoping to meet with Canada’s new heritage minister to discuss the importance of protecting smaller live venues where young artists cut their teeth. Sinclair will release his solo debut “Taxi Dancers” later this month…that reflects on the loss of Hip lead singer Gord Downie, who died in late 2017.
Sinclair says the Kingston band benefited from artistic resources in the ’90s, including a regulation that stipulated radio stations play homegrown music.Sinclair says culture exists beyond streaming services.
