Five to 10 cms of snow is expected while you sleep with the possibly upwards of six more tomorrow. Expect plows on expressways and highways once 2.5 cms has fallen, on main streets after 5 cms, and if we receive 8 cm and the snow stops, the plows will clear side streets. City of Toronto spokesman Eric Holmes adds there are 1,100 pieces of equipment ready to respond to what he calls a ”pretty typical storm.”

Snow tonight into Thursday.

Snow associated with a low pressure system from Texas is forecast to arrive tonight. The snow is forecast to become heavy late tonight or early Thursday morning, before easing in intensity Thursday morning. The snow will continue through the day Thursday, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle. Additional light snow will be possible Thursday night into Friday morning.

Total snowfall accumulations in the 5 to 10 cm range are expected for most areas, with 10 to 15 cm possible for the Hamilton and Niagara areas by Friday morning.

Given the timing of the snow, the Thursday morning commute as well as the Thursday afternoon commute are likely to be impacted.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the situation closely. However, Snowfall warnings are not anticipated at this time.
