Awards buzz is ramping up for Canadian author Margaret Atwood, once of six finalists for the Man Booker Prize. The 79-year-old has landed a spot on the short list for The Testaments, the much-hyped sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale which was also a Booker finalist in 1986.

The Testaments has also earned Canadian acclaim after being longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. It doesn’t go on sale until next week but it’s already ranked among Amazon’s 50 bestsellers. Atwood is joined on the Booker short list by British novelist Salman Rushdie and American author Lucy Ellmann. The short list will be announced on the 30th and the winner revealed at a gala in Toronto on November 18th.
