Toronto’s Union Station is the busiest building in Canada with over 300,000 commuters passing thru each day. But steps from the bustling crowd, an outdoor summer cultural space is providing an escape for busy commuters and tourists alike.
The sound of music and food sizzling in the pop-up food kiosks are replacing grinding train wheels and GO Train bells and announcements at Toronto’s busy transit hub. Vanessa McDonald has helped transform this outside space called Union Summer.
She says tourists, commuters and locals all agree this community square is on the right track. It’s a tease of what’s to come inside the historic Union Station, with over 100 retailers moving in. But it’s soon the end the line as Union Summer ends August 3rd. For more on Union Summer, visit
