The Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra has named Duncan McDougall the recipient of this year’s Stingray Rising Stars Award.
The young violinst will get $1,000 dollars to help advance his career. For 45 years, the Youth Orchestra has been dedicated to providing a high-level orchestral experience for talented young musicians aged 22 and under. The award was launched 21 years ago to promote and champion new and up-and-coming artists. The award was announced on Sunday during the TSYO’s season-finale concert at Roy Thomson Hall, marking the end of the orchestra’s 45th season.
