ORDER OF CANADA AWARDED TO OPERA ATELIER CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTORS

One of Canada’s highest honors has been bestowed upon the founding Co-Artistic Directors of Toronto’s very own, Opera Atelier.

Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg were this morning appointed to the Order of Canada.The pair received the award for their impact on Canadian performing arts and commitment to the education of young artists through The School of Atelier Ballet.

Founded in 1985, Opera Atelier has filled a unique niche in Toronto by focusing on historically informed baroque and classical opera and ballet productions. The companies current season continues in the Spring, with Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Ed Mirvish Theatre (Apr. 4 – 13).

Other recipients included author and playwright Ann-Marie MacDonald, Indigenous artist Maxine Noel and former Olympian Beckie Scott.
