Ontario’s PC’s paid $25,000 on a private jet to transport the Premier and his team on a 3-day tour of Northern Ontario. The Globe is reporting the 3-day charter cost a total of just over $29,000 including taxes, more than four times the price of commercial flights for all passengers travelling on the tour. But government spokesperson Laryssa Waler said there was no cost to taxpayers, adding that part of the trip required a private jet because there were no direct commercial flights available. But two party insiders say using a private plane for government business is highly unusual, especially since Ontario owns two aircraft for this very purpose.
