The CIBC Run for the Cure takes place Sunday morning in downtown Toronto.  Organizers expected around 20,00 people to take part in the 1 km and 5 km run or walk.

The event was organized by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and takes place every year in the city.

Below is the information sent out by Toronto Police.

Road Closures:

At 6 a.m., Wellesley Street West, from Queen’s Park Crescent East to Queen’s Park Crescent West, will be fully closed. Hoskin Avenue, from Queen’s Park Crescent West to St. George Street, will be closed at 7 a.m.

All other road closures will begin at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., participants will proceed down the following routes:

5 km route:

– Start line: Hart House Circle at Wellesley Street West (Formation Area)
– Eastbound Wellesley Street West to Queen’s Park Crescent East (full road)
– Southbound Queen’s Park Crescent East/University Avenue to Armoury Street (full road)
– Turnaround at Armoury Street to northbound University Avenue (full road)
– Northbound University Avenue/Queen’s Park Crescent West to Bloor Street West (full road)
– Westbound Bloor Street West to St. George Street (full road)
– Southbound St. George Street to College Street (full road)
– Eastbound College Street to King’s College Road (full road)
– Northbound King’s College Road to finish line at King’s College Circle (full road)
– Finish Line: King’s College Circle (Dispersal Area)

1 km route:

– Start line: Hart House Circle, through Soldier’s Tower, to Tower Road
– Northbound Tower Road to Hoskin Avenue (full road)
– Westbound Hoskin Avenue to St. George Street (full road)
– Southbound St. George Street to College Street (full road)
– Eastbound College Street to King’s College Road (full road)
– Northbound King’s College Road to finish line at King’s College Circle (full road)
– Finish Line: King’s College Circle (Dispersal Area)

The Service is asking the public to not park their vehicles along the route on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 6 a.m. to approximately 12 p.m.

Vehicles in the area, including TTC, will experience traffic delays during the event. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes around the area.

This event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
