The city where Sir John A. Macdonald lived and worked for years is looking for public input on how it should remember Canada’s first prime minister.
Starting next week, residents of Kingston, Ontario, will be able to weigh in online and in person on Macdonald’s place in the city’s history.
The city’s manager of cultural heritage says the public consultation period will last six to eight months.
Macdonald’s role in establishing residential schools has made him a polarizing figure in reconciliation efforts with Indigenous Peoples.
The City of Victoria recently removed a statue of Sir. John A Macdonald as part of its reconciliation process with First Nations.
