A new study suggests those with high-stress jobs may have a greater risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease. Using data collected from national health registers, researchers in Sweden followed more than 2.5 million people born between 1920 and 1950, identifying over 21,000 Parkinson’s cases during 20 years of follow-up. The study found men with high demand jobs involving time pressure and psychological demands were more likely to develop the disorder, particularly among men with a higher education. High control jobs are those with greater authority over decision-making and linked with an increased risk among women and those with less education. The research is published in the journal Movement Disorders
