Justin Trudeau will be running in next year’s federal election. He made the announcement Sunday in the Montreal riding of Papineau, which he has held since 2008. Talking to a partisan crowd, Trudeau promised to protect Canada’s oceans, raise the standard of living for Indigenous people and narrow the gap between rich and poor. He also accused Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer of exploiting fear and division. Papineau has been held by the Liberals for almost all of the last 50 years, with the exception of 2006 to 2008 when it was held by the Bloc Quebecois.
